Why Family Sessions are so important | Morristown NJ Photographer
In the past year I have had 2 different clients message me after our sessions together that their dads had recently passed away and that they were going to be using a photo of them that I had taken in their memorial service. They also went on to say that these pictures mean the world to them especially now.
THIS above is why you need to have family pictures done. I unfortunately know all too well that we don’t know what will happen from one day to the next. Pictures are our stories. We keep them for a period of time and than we will pass them down when it’s time. I have boxes filled with pictures from my childhood and from my parents childhood. I may not look at them now but I know they are there and one day when I am brave enough I will sit down and look through them all again with Jade. When I was younger that was something we did all the time. My Aunt would get out the boxes of old pictures and we would sit around her dining room table and just look through the hundreds of childhood pictures. Life’s craziness & sadness has stopped us from doing that but maybe one day we will again.
If there is anything you get from this post its that I hope you will document your time with each other whether that is by booking a session with me or someone else or taking the pictures yourself! Take your camera or phone out this holiday season and take lots of pictures. But make sure to print them and save them in boxes, books or frames and then one day pass them down to your children. They don’t have to be the perfectly posed, perfect hair with everyone looking at the camera and smiling pictures. The pictures from my childhood there was no posing….they are all just candid pictures of family and friends together and thats all that matters.
Now if only I would take some of my own advice!! My goals for the coming year starting now will be to get all these pictures of my daughter (or at least a good chunk of them) off my computer and into memory books as well as get in some of them with her and have my camera out more when all the family is together. I am also FINALLY going to have another family session with the AMAZING Stacy Mae. I need her to hold me to that so I don’t chicken out and YOU can hold me to that as well! If I don’t have pictures from my session posted by the summer the LATEST you can call me a hypocrite! Please send me clothes ideas! I’m already stressed over that! I love long flowy dresses!
Here is a little look back at some images from those two special sessions from above. ❤︎
