Through The Glass 2020 | Personal Project | Pandemic Photography
I have been working on this personal project during the quarantine called "Through The Glass". I wanted to do something, feeling helpless at home, but?? So many people were suffering and working to save lives, what could I possibly do with just a camera? Still, I somehow wanted to document this crazy and uncertain time in someway if I could. I need to have something to look back on once we get past all of this. I needed to stay busy.
It basically started when we were chatting about all the crazy things with our close friends, The Holloways, who live across the street from us. We often sit with them in either my backyard or their backyard (ya know to break up the same lol) like ten feet away from them, with wine & beer in our hands…yep wine in one hand and a beer in the other….we classy like that. But hey we are living through a Pandemic…don’t judge. OK maybe I’m joking a little. But we do bring our own beach chairs, our own wine & beer glasses, so afraid of passing our germs to each other & just hang out together trying to feel some sort of normalcy and break up all the monotony of quarantine, even though nothing at all is normal. I remembered seeing some photographers on social media taking pictures on front porches and I thought how much fun is that! But I was still so nervous and unsure if that was something I really wanted to do to keep busy.
Then me and Jade started making rainbows…lots and lots of rainbows. Until I couldn’t look at another rainbow lol. I just knew I couldn’t make rainbows everyday. I needed to do something creative but that didn’t involve drawing rainbows. I also started to see people posting other types of images as well as those front porch pics, some through windows, some on streets and some in backyards from afar and I knew this was something I wanted to document in my own neighborhood. So during one of our chats with The Holloways…on our beach chairs…outside on their lawn, I asked if I can take some pics of them through their patio door and just like that Through the Glass of Morristown was born. Scroll through to see some of the families who joined in so far. I was really drawn to do these and ended up loving them so much, so I’m hoping to continue on to more families around here. They have been so much fun and helped lighten the dark mood that I feel amongst us all. Let me know what you think? Should I keep going with these?
Also a great BIG thanks to the families that joined in on this "Through The Glass" project and for your donations! I can't wait to get your generous donations over to Help MorrisNOW
Beyond grateful to all of you!
A very special thank you to my little assistant, Jade! She took her polaroid around & snapped some pics to leave with everyone!
