Cake Smash Sessions | New Jersey Family Photographer
Turning ONE is a very big milestone. Some parents want to document that special time with a cake smash session. These are by far some of my favorite types of sessions. Not because I like cake….I mean, yea I do….and also not because the babies like to eat cake…..surprisingly most don’t! It’s because I get to document a time that is so fleeting! That baby is growing up so fast in front of their parents’ eyes, and for a short time, I get to freeze that time for them.
You might be shocked that I mentioned above how most babies don’t like the cake. Don’t get me wrong, some definitely do, as you will see in some pics below! But there are a good number who don’t or just don’t know that they like it yet. We are basically shoving something in front of them that most have never seen before. They don’t understand that what sits in front of them is complete deliciousness. At first, they might be afraid to even touch the cake. A lot of babies will need some coaxing from a parent. Some babies will refuse to have anything to do with the cake. That’s when we pull out the big guns….Cheerios! Yep, Cheerios lol. I have had a few sessions where the parent will put cheerios on the cake just so baby will touch the cake! No matter how the baby acts during the session, it is still all fun and still a very sweet memory for the family to have and one day laugh about.
